This is part 2 of a two-part series about Cannabis Growth Cycles
Cannabis growth cycles are determined by the time of year, the amount of light received, and the size and shape of the plant. There are three general growth stages: vegetative, flowering, and harvesting.
The vegetative stage is when a cannabis plant is growing leaves and stems. This stage lasts for about two to four weeks, depending on the size and shape of the plant. The plant will need at least 18 hours of light per day to stay in this stage.
The flowering stage is when the cannabis plant starts to produce buds. This stage lasts for about six to eight weeks, depending on the size and shape of the plant. The plant will need at least 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness each night to stay in this Cannabis growth cycle.
The harvesting stage is when the cannabis plant is ready for harvest. This can be determined by a few different methods, including checking under the final sets of leaves and looking at the trichomes or resin glands on the buds. The buds are green during this time, but they will start turning more amber as they mature. This stage lasts from one to three weeks depending on how you want to harvest.
OK! so maybe you’ve already figured this out… but if you haven’t yet, it can mean the difference between success and failure when venturing into Cannabis growth cycles.
Your plants need to breath. If you keep them in a dark and enclosed environment, they will not be able to grow as well! And this is especially important for young seedlings (if you’re growing from seed). If their leaves turn yellow, it means there isn’t enough oxygen. You’ll need to provide more by opening up the jars a little (ideally, try for something like this:
Unfortunately, there’s no way around it – if your seedlings aren’t getting light they won’t be able to grow properly. It will take some care and patience if you want a healthy Cannabis crop. Once that mature into big buds, then you’ll need to invest in some grow lights.
If you’re growing indoors, then there’s a way for light to get from outside to inside your home. Through the windows! This is why it’s important to have plenty of natural light in your home. (especially if you’re growing near a window). And, of course, there’s the option to use curtains or blinds if too much light is getting into your home.
If you’re outdoors and want to grow cannabis then it’s a little harder – but not impossible! Read this guide to learn how to grow Cannabis outdoors.
Also, if you’re growing indoors, try and find a way for your plants get as much light in the morning as possible. Since they need light at all times of day to grow properly!
This is one of the most important nutrients for Cannabis – it’s crucial. If you have too little of this nutrient in your soil, then they won’t thrive as well as possible!
It’s especially important during the vegetative stage of growth when your plant is making its big leaves and stems (it also helps with bud production since THC and CBD are made using nitrogen).
Now, it’s possible to get plenty of nitrogen into your crop without doing anything else. If the Cannabis growth cycle is outdoors and you’ve added ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ fertilizer to the soil, then some nitrogen will be released. (don’t ever use chemical fertilizers like this!) But if you’re using a non-soil medium (like growing in coco coir) then provide extra nitrogen.
When you do this, make sure that the fertilizer is specifically for Cannabis cultivation. There are many options like this on the market today (make sure it’s organic so that your plants don’t absorb any harmful chemicals).
Here’s a little video that shows how to add extra nitrogen (in a liquid form) to your growing medium:
Fe is another ‘macro-nutrient’ and it’s just as important in some cases as nitrogen. It can be used by your plants in two different ways:
Most of the time, it’s used in the form of Fe-EDTA (short for ‘ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid’). This type of Fe is responsible for promoting healthy root development. But when this nutrient runs short, your plant has a backup plan – and will start to use Fe in the form of Fe-EDDHA. This type of Fe is responsible for helping the roots uptake other nutrients, including phosphorus (and even some nitrogen)!
There are two main ways to ensure that your Cannabis crop have enough iron:
First – use a water softener! Most tap water comes with plenty of this nutrient. If you’re using hard water then it can be difficult for your plants to absorb Fe-EDTA. By using a water softener, you can make sure that there’s enough of this nutrient in your water!
Second – use something like ‘MaxiCrop Iron’. This product is a powder that you can mix into your water during the growing stage. When you do this, it makes sure that there’s plenty of Fe-EDTA in your water!
Cannabis crops need calcium to grow properly – without enough of this nutrient, they’re unable to support healthy growth.
It’s especially important for helping your plant grow its flowers and buds – so if you want to get the most out of your cannabis crop, then make sure they have enough Calcium!
Now, there are many ways to give your plants more calcium:
First – use a ‘Cal-Mag’ supplement! This is a mixture of Calcium and Magnesium which is effective for helping your plants grow their flowers. Make sure the ‘Cal-Mag’ supplement you get has this exact ratio (there are some that don’t!).
Second – use something like ‘MaxiCrop Cal-Mag’. The product is a powder that you mix with your water during the growing stage. When you do this, it makes sure that there’s plenty of Calcium and Magnesium in your water!
If you want to get the best results out of your Cannabis crop, then you need to transplant them properly.
But if you’re not careful when you do this, their rootscan get damaged. Which is one of the biggest killers of young Cannabis plants!
That’s why I highly recommend that you use a ‘Vermiculite barrier’ when transplanting your cannabis plants.
Here’s a short video that shows how to do it:
This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when growing Cannabis. And it’s simple to avoid! Get a reverse osmosis water filter (don’t use anything else) and make sure that you use this to water your plants (don’t mix it with any other type of water)!
Here’s a short video that shows how to get started:
If you want to make sure that you’re growing your Cannabis plants in the cleanest possible environment, then there’s an easy way to do it – use ‘activated charcoal’!
It’s extremely cheap and effective at removing any unwanted odors that can disrupt your growing environment. Plus, it removes any leftover nutrients or chemicals after you’ve flushed the soil (this is important because if your plant is still absorbing these nutrients, it can lead to nutrient burn!).
Here’s a short video that shows how to get started:
If you want to give your Cannabis plants the best possible environment in which they can grow – then I highly recommend that you use ‘Coco-Coir’ as your growing medium!
It’s extremely effective at holding onto moisture – which is important because without enough moisture in the soil, it can be difficult to give your cannabis crop a healthy environment.
Here’s a short video that shows you exactly how to do it:
If you’re looking to cultivate your cannabis crop in the smartest way possible, then I highly recommend that you try using ‘Root Pouches’. They are modern and very effective alternative to growing mediums like coco-coir.
Here’s a short video that explains how to use them:
If you’re looking to grow your Cannabis in the smartest way possible, then I highly recommend that you try using soil-less growing mediums – they’re a modern and very effective alternative to growing mediums like coco-coir.
Here’s a short video that explains how to use them:
If you’re growing your Cannabis out doors, then I highly recommend that you use Cannabis nutrients specifically designed for the vegetative stage of your plant’s life.
Why? Because they’re specifically designed for helping your plants get a nice, stocky base!
If you want to make sure that the nutrients you’re using are properly balanced, then you need to make sure that they have the N-P-K ratio on the label.
If they don’t, then it can be difficult to know how much of each nutrient your plants are receiving. Which is important because if they aren’t getting enough nutrients, it can lead to their leaves showing signs of deficiency.
There are other types of growth cycles associated with the vegetative state and how your crops stay healthy while growing in this stage. These three phases will offer a great start for medical marijuana users who want to know about the science behind their medication. Plus, if you grow your own weed at home, or visit a local dispensary where they sell medical cannabis, understanding these growth cycles will give you more confidence. Knowing how to identify the different stages and when it’s finally safe to harvest them is key.
With so many states legalizing medical marijuana, people are finding relief, and no adverse side effects like some legal prescriptions tend to have. So, if you’re thinking about trying medical Cannabis for the first time, be sure to do your research. Understanding the different growth cycles and how they will affect the potency and flavor of your medicine helps. You may be surprised at how well this natural treatment can work for you.
Medical marijuana is becoming more popular as people learn about the many benefits it has to offer. One of the great things about medical marijuana is that it can provide great relief to those suffering from certain health conditions. Many people are unaware of how medical marijuana can improve one’s quality of life. Which is why there are still states that have not legalized its use for medicinal purposes. It is important for everyone who may benefit from using Medical Cannabis oils, tinctures, or edibles to understand the basics of how the plant grows. With this knowledge they can get the most out of their medication.
Each cannabis plant will go through three different growth cycles as it matures. And each of these phases will produce slightly different results in terms of potency and flavor. It’s important to be aware of these growth phases, as it will affect the cannabinoid profiles found in your medicine.
There are typically, three separate stages associated with growing cannabis for medical purposes. The first stage is known as the vegetative stage and typically occurs when new plants are first sprouted from their seeds. This stage lasts roughly about two weeks long after which time most plants have already started flowering or budding out. During this phase, your plants will use energy from the sun to produce more foliage and increase their size.
In order to mirror the growth cycle of an outdoor plant, you must reduce how much water your indoor cannabis gets once it reaches a foot tall in height. Outdoor medical marijuana strains normally experience drier weather during this time, which also causes them to use up any extra water they receive. The key during the vegetative stage is keeping your plants well hydrated but not overly saturated with water since this can lead them to develop several health conditions. Most importantly, make sure you provide a good amount sunlight for each of your individual marijuana plants so that they continue growing as quickly as possible.
The second phase is known as the flowering stage and lasts roughly between three to four weeks long. Once your plants reach the desired size, you will want to start changing their environment so that they will begin to flower. This can be done by reducing the amount of light they’re getting each day or by changing the light schedule altogether. For most indoor growers, 12 hours on and 12 hours off is a good place to start when trying to get your plants to flower.
At the same time, you will want to start increasing the humidity levels in your grow room since this is also a critical time for developing buds. The high humidity will help protect your plants from mold and mildew while they’re flowering. You should also continue watering them lightly but make sure not to overdo it as this can also cause mold problems.
After the flowering stage, your plants will begin to grow buds and produce more of a smell around them. This is the third and final phase which occurs after the plants have matured completely and are ready for harvest. At this point, you can choose to chop down your plants or let them continue growing into late autumn.
There are many different stages that Cannabis plants go through as they mature. It is important to remember that each plant is slightly different. in some way. Some medical marijuana strains might not need weeks of vegetative growth while some might need an extra few days. This is before entering their flowering cycles. The key thing to keep in mind when growing any type of marijuana plant indoors is to monitor your temperatures carefully. So that you don’t end up with any sick plants.
By following these simple tips, you can help ensure a healthy and bountiful harvest for all of your Medical Cannabis needs. And remember, if you ever have any questions about growing or using cannabis for medicinal purposes, always consult with your local dispensary for more information. They’ll be more than happy to help!
