Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Cannabaceae. The number of species within the genus is disputed. Three species may be recognized: Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis; C. ruderalis may be included within C. sativa; or all three may be treated as subspecies of a single species.
Cannabis has long been used for hemp fiber, for hemp oils, for medicinal purposes, and as a recreational drug. Industrial hemp products are made from cannabis plants selected to produce an abundance of fiber. To satisfy the UN Narcotics Convention, some cannabis strains have been bred specifically. This is to produce minimal levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principal psychoactive constituent. Many plants have been selectively bred to produce a maximum of THC (cannabinoids), which is obtained by curing the flowers. Various compounds, including hashish and hash oil, are extracted from the plant.
What does this have to do with chocolates? Well there’s a few different types/ways you can go about eating some infused chocolate.. And it all depends on what your looking for in flavor! I’ll be going over 3 different methods of making them and some pros and cons to each one
But wait… First lets talk about an important factor when considering what you want out of your edible: dosage
This is why its always recommended starting off with low amounts (10mg). Then wait about an hour before consuming more of the chocolate. If you feel like its not doing anything for you after an hour, go ahead and consume another piece. Maybe even take a few bites out of it. Then wait another hour to see how that effects you (if any!)
I’m really only starting with these low doses by recommendation from a friend. They have had lots of experience with THC infused things. They also are the one who gave me all the different methods for making these chocolates. Ill get into that later.. I’ll just say now that some are definitely better than others! So without further ado lets get started!
First up is what I think is best way to eat them:
This type of chocolate bar is very tasty. However, it does not pack the punch some of the other chocolates do. Its basically some chocolate that contains CBD oil or tincture (cannabis infused glycerin). It also contains any type of cocoa butter you like/can find
I would suggest eating this kind first because its easiest to judge your dose. Then you can know what effects your gonna get from them. But if your looking for a strong edible then check out one of the next two methods!
Not Just For Cheese! This method was inspired by Group Recipes on Facebook. They make the best fondue ever (cheese & chocolate fondue) …so why wouldn’t it work with cannabis right? Well actually its not just for cheese!
This is really a 2 part recipe, one part being just your regular chocolate fondue. The other half is the cannabis infused half. By mixing these two together you end up with an amazing (and potent) dessert. This is a dessert that everyone will love (and not be able to tell that its laced with THC!)
But please keep in mind this can take anywhere from 4-8 hours. The difference in hours depends on how strong you want it to be. The longer you leave the tincture in the thicker it gets. If you like thin/runny desserts then go ahead and eat it within 3 hours or so. But if your making it for something like a party where people won’t necessarily finish their plate right away? Go ahead and leave it for the full 8 hours!
Not only does it taste amazing but its also super easy to make! Yay for simple recipes that work every time :D. I’ll leave the link here for this recipe, just substitute your tincture of choice (try our new Canna-Cocoa Tincture !). Of course you can substitute any other kind of tincture you might have. And if you don’t have a chocolate fondue pot/dish you can always make your own double boiler on the stove top -_-
Next up is what I would consider one of the best ways to consume cannabis chocolates yet. Homemade Chocolate Lava Cake with Cannabis Infuse dipped Cream! This is basically a chocolate cake with a surprise in the middle..
The trick here is to bake it on top of some parchment paper. Then after its baked let it cool for about 10 minutes before trying to remove the “lava” from inside. Also be sure your oil/tincture is warm when you add it to the chocolate mixture. Else it will not mix properly into the batter
Here’s a link to a good recipe for this, I did change up a few of the things though since I always like my recipes a little bit tweaked .. And of course feel free to substitute any other type of cannabis infused butter or oil in place of what they have listed
This type isn’t necessarily going to get you super stoned but if you eat more than one square you will definitely feel something kick in and it takes a good hour to start kicking in so if you want the effects of cannabis but don’t wanna be sitting with everyone wondering why they’re all having such a good time and you feel nothing then I would go ahead and try this method out!
Well that does it for today, hopefully some of these recipes (or at least the idea’s behind them) can help someone who is looking to make their own chocolates. If your not up for making chocolate bars or cakes yourself then there are plenty of places out there where you can order some edible chocolates/bars.
Just remember that sometimes its best to start off with smaller doses (half a square in the case of chocolate bars/cakes) and if you don’t feel anything in 30 minutes or so then go ahead and take another half square (or more depending on how much was in your first bite).
And remember to be safe! I would say at least wait 20-30 minutes before deciding that nothing is happening .. this way you can see what kind of reaction your having when it kicks in (and when its wearing off), people react differently to edibles like this.
Start by saying that when making any sort of infused food, start small and work your way up from there. When starting out, try one thing at a time. What I mean here is focus on learning what works for you recipe wise before trying to combine.
Cannabis chocolates are usually made of hash oil mixed with cocoa butter, a type of fat extracted from cacao beans. THC can be added to the ingredients for a stronger high. Cannabis chocolates can come in different forms: pills, liquid, and powder. People commonly use cannabis chocolates (Cannabis edibles), because they take longer to act on the body.
Cannabis chocolates come with a number of names, including: Cannabis-infused chocolate bars (edibles), stoner’s delight (munchies), brownie bites, space cake, space chocolate, and Cannabis lollipops. Whatever name is used for these chocolates, the method of consumption is more or less the same.
Cannabis chocolates can be chewed just like normal chocolate bars. The difference is cannabis chocolates have a higher concentration of THC and extra ingredients that make them psychoactive. For this reason, people who chew cannabis chocolates should wait longer before eating.
People who consume cannabis chocolates also hold them in their mouth for a few minutes and then swallow. Holding cannabis chocolates in the mouth allows them to act more slowly on the body while THC travels through the bloodstream reaching the brain.
Gelatin is used to make edible cannabis pills or capsules. Taking these marijuana edibles helps avoid the unpleasant taste of cannabis oils and THC butter, which often have a musky flavor. Some cannabis chocolates are made into powder form; they can then be mixed into drinks to help with the taste.
Some people sprinkle cannabis chocolates over their food, especially when they are making a special dish such as brownies or choco-chip cookies. Sprinkling edible cannabis chocolates onto your snacks also helps make things easier; they can easily be measured out instead of having to dig through a bag of cannabis chocolates.
One of the best ways to take your edible cannabis chocolates is using teaspoons or tablespoons. By using a teaspoon, you benefit from being able to measure the right amount and make sure that it is a little bit stronger. For instance, while taking cannabis chocolates in the form of powder or butter, one teaspoon equals 1 milligram (0.1 gram) of THC.
In contrast, pre-made cannabis chocolates contain about ten times more THC; this means that just three chocolate pieces would easily put you over the legal limit. So, if you want to avoid an unpleasant experience, stick to teaspoons and tablespoons instead of eating the whole cannabis chocolate bar at once!
One thing that many people do not know is how long it takes for the effects of cannabis chocolates to start showing up on your body. Here are a few things you need to consider before trying out the different methods:
